Apex Podiatry Fremantle

Established in 1988, Apex Podiatry Fremantle continues on a long-standing legacy (formerly Peter Stroud Podiatry), with Peter still involved and Andrew Huynh continuing podiatry care for the Fremantle community.

Our Podiatrist Services

Andrew & Peter provide holistic podiatry services in Fremantle, including routine care, nail and ingrown toenail treatment, sports podiatry, heel/shin pain, orthotics, and diabetic foot assessments.

  • Nail and Skin Care

If you’re unable to safely cut your toenails or are troubled by calluses, our team can carry out a thorough and professional foot care clean-up using sterilised equipment.

    Diabetic Foot Care

Along with evaluating neurovascular status, we also check for foot deformities and other risk factors to prevent complications in people with diabetes, particularly the development of diabetic ulcers.

    Footwear Advice

Wearing the wrong shoes can lead to many problems, and knowing what to choose isn’t always easy. We can help recommend the right footwear based on your foot type and daily activities.

    Neurovascular Assessment

We check the nerves and blood flow in your feet to detect any early signs of nerve or circulation problems.

    Balance and Mobility advice

If you have concerns about your balance or mobility, we can carry out assessments and provide appropriate advice or interventions to help improve them.

  • Heel Pain / Plantar Fasciitis

Stress on the plantar fascia can cause wear and tear, often resulting in pain at the bottom of the heel. We provide exercises and supportive orthoses to tackle the root causes, as well as hands-on therapy to relieve pain in the short and long term

    Achilles Pain / Achilles Tendinopathy

Stress on the Achilles tendon can lead to wear and tear, causing pain at the back of the heel. We use proven rehabilitation techniques and methods to reduce strain on the tendon, helping you get back to the activities you enjoy.

    Ankle Injury / Rehabilitation

Whether it’s a minor sprain or a complete tear, we can support your injured ligaments and tendons with the right protection and offloading, and guide you through a personalized rehab plan to regain full ankle strength and mobility.

    Shin Splints / Running Issues

By assessing your movement and biomechanics, we can identify what’s contributing to shin splints (medial tibial stress syndrome) and provide strategies to reduce strain. This may involve stretching tight muscles, adjusting footwear, correcting technique, and strengthening key muscles.

    Other Lower Limb Pain

Pain in the knee, leg, or hip can be caused by compensation in other parts of the body. We can assess the source of the problem and recommend exercises or treatments to help resolve it.

  • Ingrown Toenails

Whether you have mild soreness around your toenails or more serious ingrown nails that might require surgery, we trim the affected nail edge and offer advice to help prevent it from happening again.

    Corns and Warts

Corns and warts are commonly mistaken for each other. Corns form from pressure on the skin, while warts are caused by a viral infection. We can remove corns and explain ways to reduce pressure, and treat warts with debridement and the right medications.

    Fungal Nail and Skin Infections

Yellowed, thickened nails may point to a fungal nail infection, while red, itchy, blistered skin often indicates athlete’s foot. We can assess these conditions and advise on treatment options and preventive care.

  • Bunions / Hallux Valgus

Bunions, also called hallux abductovalgus, commonly arise from flat feet, narrow shoes, joint hypermobility, or hereditary factors. Although surgery is the only way to fully correct them, we can help manage pain and prevent them from worsening.

    Claw, Hammer and Mallet Toes

Little toes may curl over time due to the foot trying to stabilise itself (often from overpronation) or to compensate for weak lower leg muscles. Though they cannot be straightened without surgery, we provide treatments to prevent worsening and use various methods to reduce rubbing and pressure.

    Flat and High Arches

Having flat or high-arched feet can cause issues like muscle strain, bunions, unstable ankles, and painful corns or calluses. We evaluate your foot structure and function to recommend treatments that ease current problems and reduce the risk of future complications.

    Osteoarthritis

As we age, or after repeated stress or injuries, joint spaces can narrow, leading to pain from bones rubbing together. We can identify movement patterns or other factors that increase joint stress and offer orthotics or footwear advice to ease pain and help prevent arthritis from worsening.

    Orthotic Therapy

Orthoses help improve foot and ankle function by supporting proper alignment and reducing stress on specific areas. Orthotics also help muscles function and activate when they should when walking. They can be used short-term to protect injured areas while they heal or long-term to manage structural problems. We provide ready-made orthoses for mild conditions, or we can assess your biomechanics and create custom orthoses designed just for you.

    Midfoot pain

Midfoot pain can affect your ability to walk, stand, or exercise comfortably and may be caused by injury, overuse, or changes in foot structure. Common symptoms include dull, sharp or burning pain in the middle of the foot. Our podiatry team can assess the cause of your pain and provide effective treatments such as exercises, supportive footwear, or custom orthotics to relieve discomfort and help prevent the issue from worsening.
